RAIPUR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested South Eastern Central Railways (SECR) chief sanitary inspector for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 for sanctioning bills of sanitary work to a firm here in Raipur.
A chief sanitary inspector Shubhashish Sarkar, 54, posted in South Eastern Central Railways (SECR) in Raipur was arrested Thursday evening from his residence after he had accepted a bribe amount of Rs 30,000 from a proprietor of the sanitary firm, ACB SP Manish Sharma told TOI.
Sarkar is a resident of Kharun Railway Vihaar colony at Fafadih area in the state capital, the SP added.
The accused had demanded 8% commission from the proprietor of a firm to sanction the bills of Rs 15.96 lakh for sanitary works that the firm had done in railway colony locality from July-Dec 2019. The accused railway official demanded Rs 1.20 lakh in three instalments.
